Braving White - Knocked Up Fabulous

As much as I worry about wearing white and other light colors, I’m proud to say that this outfit survived sauce-covered ribs and a glass of Shiraz.

A belly full of happiness and clothes that don’t show for it…that counts as a good day.

Knocked Up Fabulous

Spring, you better get here soon! I’ve resorted to wearing my sundresses as tops…with a little help from a belt or two.  Aaaaaand a sweater, vest, scarf, and beanie to make the striped dress warm enough for the weather.  No matter…I’ll be rocking this striped number soon enough on a beach somewhere.

I know that you guys are so good at voting and helping out KUF.  Please take a second a head over to the Wallis Facebook page and vote for Knocked Up Fabulous.  They’re looking for their first blogger ambassador…I’m hoping to represent all of the stylish mamas out there!

Super Bowl Sunday

Sundays are probably my favorite day of the week…sleeping in til 7:30 (for all you non-parents, waking up after your usual weekday time is considered sleeping in), goofing around with the kids, and dinner at my parents.  Yesterday’s dinner consisted of 4 different types of chili with all the proper toppings.  Dessert was just as tasty…mini brownie bites with peanut butter centers (of course my mom got the recipe from Pinterest!)

With all that food, I needed to wear something comfy but in darker colors to conceal any chili mess!  And as I assess what’s in my closet, these jeans will be exiting soon, too.  Might do a little diy project with them…don’t judge, but I saw one of my students in the cutest pair of printed jeans…tie dyed in shades of black and gray.  Hmmm…good idea or leave it for the kiddies??

Gold Trimmings

It probably wasn’t the best idea to wear this long, white skirt on a rainy day.  But hey, I haven’t worn it since the bump and once I saw that gold trim at the bottom, my mind was set.

Leftovers

11 Oct 2011 Permalink

My husband sometimes brings me home miscellaneous pieces of jewelry (he does work on foreclosed homes and gets dibs on things left behind…)  The beaded part of this necklace was from one of those homes.  I just added some ribbon and a brooch (also a foreclosed leftover) and a “new” necklace was made.  As I write this I feel a bit sad about having costume jewelry from someone who lost their home…but if they left it, I guess it wasn’t important to them, right?  Maybe if I thought of it as thrifting for free…nah…that makes me seem like a garbage picker…

Interested in seeing other pieces of leftovers?  Check out these brooches (and the ring).

This Vest

I’m sure by now you’re all sick of seeing this vest…it’s pretty much everywhere in blogland.  But I’m really loving it.  The olive green color goes with so many fall’ish’ items…the drawstring waist helps create shape…and with this getup it helps calm down these crazy prints! (I couldn’t help myself…this trend used to scare me, but now I think I’m scaring it!)

This old thang

‘Cuse my English…haven’t been in the classroom since the end of may and talking with a toddler all day long has taken a toll on my brain.  I should probably read some professional articles or something be four returning to work…can’t be have in the kids teach’n the teacher!  (Bonus points for finding all the spelling and grammar errors in this paragraph.)

And you can probably tell I’m a little loopy today!  It’s days like this when I like to reflect with deep thoughts…like how much use I’ve gotten from this polka dot skirt!  I picked it up during pregnancy and it fit nicely under or over the bump (like here) and once the little man was born I was (finally) able to wear it around my waist (see here.)
