The Downside of Thrifting - Knocked Up Fabulous

After all the good things I have to say about thrifting, there is something that totally bums me out…

No, it’s not the grodiness, or the part about wearing clothes that someone else has worn before…It’s finding something so cool that’s not in your size!  I love these pants.  They’re just a size too big.  I guess I could take them to my local, trusty seamstress (ahem…Mom…), buuuut some days just call for over-sized, baggy pajama pants.  (So I’ll wear them with a smile.)

And that just means I’ll have to keep hunting for another pair.

I’m not sure if I’m a fan of this top on me.  Usually I try to not bring attention to my frontal area (especially since I’m still nursing…don’t judge me.  We’ll be done by kindergarten, I promise!), but I wanted a little something extra than a basic black shirt.

And how cute is this little necklace from Katie Dean?!  I have been wearing it non-stop for the past few days…like little golden nuggets of happiness.

Who doesn’t enjoy a comfy pair for pants for work?  My trick for not looking sloppy?  Make sure to wear a structured top…a pointy heel helps too!

Striped Pajama Pants and Beaded Neckline DIY

I love doing style challenges.  Probably because it gives me another reason to play around with my clothes and jewelry!  So when Marion mentioned stripes for this months challenge, I knew that I wanted have another go with these pajama pants.  I really like how the faux fur stole adds a little bit of glam to an otherwise basic pants and jacket outfit.

And this plain black shell top got glammed up, too.  I used the beads from an old beaded necklace and just stitched the beads around the neckline.  Take a look…

The three pictures on the right show different ideas that I had before sewing the beads on.  I always have a tough time deciding…but I like how the final product looks!

On Dreams and Shopping With Children

My husband is such a good sport.  Last week Who What Wear sent out an email about a blogger project.  I fantasized about it for a moment, but then my husband said, why not give it a shot?  So, he let me drag him out to shot a little casting video on Sunday.  (If you want to watch me embarrass myself…take a look at it here.)

A girl can dream…right?

And in case you have no idea what it’s like to shop with children…

Feeding the kids Goldfish with one hand, while I browse the racks with the other.  It’s all about the snacks…once mama is out of them, the shopping trip is over!

Mommy…why are you wearing your pajamas to work?

15 May 2012 Permalink

I really don’t think preschoolers can comprehend trends or styles…but they know what it means when you say, “everyone else is doing it.”

That’s exactly how I responded to my daughter when she questioned these pants before I left the house.  “Pajama pants are ‘in’, Julia…and these aren’t mommy’s pajama pants anyway.  They’re work pants.”  And with that said, I kissed her good-bye, and departed for school.  The whole car ride I imagined her as a teenager…dressing in who knows what…giving me the same line.  “But everyone else is wearing them, mom.”

Oh, I can hardly wait.
