Stripes and Pockets – Refashion #1

07 May 2012 Permalink

This skirt came in handy during pregnancy as a skirt

…and as a dress.

It got some use after pregnancy, too…

…but in the end, there was just way too much fabric for me!  All I did was chop off a few inches…hem…and voila!  A new skirt!

The new length is much more flattering, don’t ya think?

This skirt has been sitting in my “to-do” pile for quite some time…and it felt great to finally hem it!  With a thick waist band, micro-stripes, and pockets…this skirt will be a favorite for summer!

Tomorrow I’ll show you a pink skirt that I found and hemmed!  I love taking thrifted pieces and bringing them into some kind of current form!

Stripes and Stripes

Horizontal stripes used to scare me.  They used to be a big “no-no”…but these days, I can’t get enough.  So here we have a little mix and match stripe action to help tame my stripe craving.

Still wanting more stripes in your life?  Head over to Jessica’s Stripe Challenge to see 96(!!!) bloggers showcasing their lines.

Spring Break Stripes

30 Mar 2012 Permalink

I’ve been on spring break this week.  Between thrift store trips, cleaning house (closets specifically…donated 9 garbage bags of clothes!), diy projects, and soaking up as much quality time with the kids as possible…it has been one busy, but productive week!

Inspiration

On Sundays I get my clothes ready for the work week.  I had planned to wear black and white today, but then I saw this and thought a denim top would be a nice change from a blazer.

On a sort-of side note, I love checking out the style of others.  Looking for a little inspo yourself…check out these gems: A classic vintage vibe, trend setter, girl next door, layering expert, vintage meets present day glam, and queen with a sewing machine.

Monochrome

I could really use a pair of Dorothy’s ruby-red slippers these days…click my heels together and wish to travel to another place.  (Hmm…there’s no place like Rome…there’s no place like Rome)  Things around these parts have been cold, wet, and DARK.  I guess I shouldn’t complain…I could be from the arctic and experience days without sunlight.

Normally on sunless days, I’d forgo with these outfit posts, but this blogger and her 10 day challenge has me itching to do otherwise.  And that otherwise means indoor shots.

Today’s challenge…monochrome.  Never would I though to wear forest green with a lighter green pant, but I like how it turned out, especially with the light blue collared shirt underneath the sweater.  And as long as I have fun playing dress up, I don’t mind what mother nature dishes out.

Take it from a man

06 Jun 2011 Permalink

When is an acceptable time to use items from your man’s side of the closet?  After a late night of partying?  Laundry day?  During pregnancy?  I’d vote for all of the above.

As my belly bulge continues to grow into a basketball, my “wearable” clothing supply continues to shrink… a perfect time to raid my husband’s closet.  This over-sized tank provides lots of room in the midsection and the neutral color makes it quite versatile for many outfits.
