Wow.  I’m feeling so old these days!  When I was in my twenties, I used to be able to go out at night and bounce back in the mornings. Not so much now!  After late nights this past Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and then getting up to be at Navy Pier at 7:30 on Saturday morning, I was (and still am) spent!!

It was all worth it though!  Especially the early morning on Saturday.  This weekend was the Chicago Toy & Game Fair at Navy Pier.  (The playCHIC fashion show was on Thursday.)  I dragged the family willingly along.  The kids had a blast, and we even got a little Christmas shopping done at the fair.

This outfit was perfect for checking out all the booths.  I went with a fun graphic t-shirt to get in the playful mood.  And the comfy cardigan and hands-free purse served their purpose.  The finishing touch was a bold red lip…you know, to help distract attention away from the bags under my eyes!

We had two birthday parties to go to on Saturday.  The first one was a kid party, the second one was just for grown-ups.  (Guess which one was my favorite…)  Even though we had a few hours between the two events, I didn’t want to do any sort of outfit change in between.  This snake-print blouse was the perfect solution!  I’ve said this before, and I’ll keep spreading the word, printed fabrics are perfect for concealing dirt, stains, spaghetti sauce, cupcake frosting, glitter glue…you get the point!  As someone who is almost always around kids (aka dirt magnets), I wonder why I even buy any solid color clothing at all!  Prints are the way to go!!

If your weekend was full of parties and dirty children as well, perhaps you missed this the first time around…

Gorgeous bracelets! Love the chain one from @JTV #TreatYourself

As the temps continue to drop, all I want to wear are jeans and sweaters.  A great pair of skinnys and a big cozy knit are just too perfect for cooler days.  And as much as I love this pair of distressed jeans, I think I might have to retire them for the season.  I’m all about fashion, but holes in pants on cold days is not the way to go.  But thank goodness for this thick, blue sweater!  It kept me nice and toasty!!

And this little kid loves his graphic tees…especially ones with fire trucks or guitars.  Ivan’s rock out shirt is too cute!  I’m obsessed with his cargo camo pants though.  One, because they match nearly everything in his closet…and two, the print helps hide any visible dirt.  Which if you have kids, anything that helps them appear cleaner is definitely a bonus…at least in my book!!

Sweater Weather | Cleaning Your Closet From One Season To The Next

Over the weekend I finally had the chance to pack up my summer clothes and unpack my bins of winter gear.  It was kinda refreshing to change out my closet.  I even went the extra step and really purged out things I haven’t worn in a while.

I used to be indecisive about what to toss and what to keep.  Now I’m a little more realistic.  I know that if I haven’t worn something in a while, chances are I’m not going to wear it.  Between cleaning out my closet and the kids’ drawers, I dropped off 5 bags of clothes to get donated.  It felt good to clean out the clutter!!
