Branson

Over Easter weekend, we took a trip to Branson for my cousin’s wedding.  The wedding itself was a dream…everything looked so beautiful!  And as always, it was great spending time with all the family!

I’ve got lots to share from the trip…next post (fingers crossed!) I’ll share a a video of a few of my road trip essentials with ya’ll!

Touches of Red

I wore this to a very causal after school fundraising event.  I needed something that could easily be spruced up a little between day and evening.  So during the day I wore the outfit with these boots and the sweater knotted.  After school, I switched up the sweater (good thing because the event was HOT!), added a few more bracelets, slipped into the red pumps and put on ruby lips.  A few simple changes can totally transform a look!

Hope you enjoy your weekend! I’ve got another fundraiser tonight and some birthday celebrating tomorrow!

And happy Daylight Savings!

Farewell Party

When I first became a mom, I learned that there are two things that do not mix well together – newborns and jewelry.  Not newborns wearing the jewelry, but the caretaker of the child wearing the jewelry (I didn’t lose you there, did I?)

As much as I LOVE fashion jewelry, it is near impossible to hold a newborn (delicate skin and all) while you have on multilayered necklaces, chandelier earrings, cocktail rings, or arm parties. (What’s an arm party? See here.)  So here’s one last “party” before I spend lots of time snuggling with my new bundle – sans jewelry.

Florals and a Fedora – #23

Summer is in full swing, and if you’re one of the lucky ones carrying around a growing fetus inside of you (sorry…is that too gross to hear??), then you’re probably feeling extra warm and uncomfortable.

I’ve been trying to keep my clothing to a minimum…it’s just too hot to wear any layers!  So, accessories have been my pregdrobe rescuer.  Instead of wearing a necklace how it was intended, I wrapped this double chain one around my wrist.  A fedora helps block the sun, and of course, sporting sunglasses means I was able to skip out with applying eye make up (kind of…I always apply mascara.)

How’s the summer treating you?  How do you change your attire/makeup routine in the warmer months?

Take it eeeeaaasy

This morning I was reminded that 1) the end of the school year is extremely busy and chaotic (hello summer vacation in 9 days!) and 2) I should take care of my body a bit more.

Case in point, this morning shortly before 9 a.m. after greeting my students and starting our routine, I suddenly felt dizzy and nauseas and thought for sure that I would pass out on the floor.  Perhaps it was the overly warm classroom or the never-ending “to-do” list running through my brain, but the only thing I was able to do at that moment was sit down, send a kid for an ice pack to cool my overheated body, and guzzle water.

It’s always important to take care of your body, pregnant or not.  Eating healthy and finding positive ways to relieve stress are necessities in life.  One way I love to de-stress after a long day is by putting outfits together.  I know it sounds a bit shallow, but there’s just something about looking “put together” that makes me feel good.

What healthy ways do you de-stress and do something just for you?
