You can always count on certain trends to pop up every fall.  Just look at animals prints and military wear…some form of them make an appearance each year!

This season, besides for animal print and army inspired pieces, I’m planning on wearing the heck out of these fabulous trends:

1. tweed and houndstooth prints

2. feline-inspired motifs (See this IFB post for lots of great inspiration!)

3. beading, feathers, and embellishments

4. different shades of pink

I’ve already got some of them in my closet, but I’ll be looking for some “new stock” soon!  What trends do you look forward to wearing in the cooler months?

One Good Way To Beat A Stressful Week

Fashion Week has been my weakness these past few days.  I mean, nothing beats the stress away like looking at inspiring designs for next spring!  (I even started a board to keep track of my favorites.)  Some people may think it’s shallow, but after spending hours focusing on lesson plans, objectives, goals, grade-level meetings, open house preparation, grading, and teaching…I just need something that requires use from the other side of my brain!

And after seeing this cool sweatshirt pop up a few times this week, I think I know what my next diy project is going to be!

One final thought…Rena from The Girl With the Smile asked me some personal questions about blogging and stuff…check out my responses here!

Animal Print Appropriate

Animal print can be very easy to wear, but it can also be easy to get a little carried away with it!  When I wear animal prints to work, I make sure that all my other pieces are neutrals or that they help tone down any craziness that might come with the territory of wearing such a feisty print.

These past few weeks I’ve been busy writing a grant for my classroom.  (Paperwork and research and more paperwork…blech!)  It’s tasks like these that drain my energy and make me question what I’m doing.  To keep myself positive and get my thoughts back on track, I look back at past accomplishments.

Take KUF for example.  If you look back at the beginning…wait, please don’t, it’s super embarrassing.  Let’s just pretend that you looked back.  You’d be able to tell that this blog has come quite a way.  And when I do encounter obstacles (like a husband who works too many hours to take my silly outfit pictures), I figure out ways to work around it.  (A tripod and remote can be such magical tools!)

How do you get yourself out of those funky ruts?  Is putting together a cute outfit one way?  (That makes me feel good too!)

Mismatched Day

28 Nov 2012 Permalink

The Student Council organized Spirit Week to help raise funds for Hurricane Sandy victims.  My favorite day…MISMATCHED DAY!  This gem-colored pattern mix seemed like the most appropriate thing to wear.  And when anyone at work gave me that wacky “what is she wearing?” look, I just blamed it on my school spirit.

Week in Review

26 Oct 2012 Permalink

Just a few things from the past week…

Thrifted some new-to-me pieces. I can’t wait for the temps to drop a tiny bit more so I can wear the coat!  And as soon as I get a chance, the skirt is going to get hemmed!

Found a new favorite animal print dress…probably going to hem that a little, too.

Met the lovely Anna from See Jane.

And ended the work week in a splash of color.

Cheers to the weekend!

Leopard and Mustard

26 Sep 2012 Permalink

If you heard a squeal off in the distance on Saturday, it was probably me when I found this leopard pencil skirt (double bonus…leopard and pencil!!)

The first thing I did when I got home was wash it…and then I made the tough decision of what top to wear with it first.  I settled on this mustard sweater, but I have a whole slew of other options just waiting…I’m predicting that I’ll be wearing this skirt at least once a week until winter.

Have you found yourself any fall favorites yet?

Fall Stripes

This skirt served me well during pregnancy…flashback to here and here.  And it’s really coming in handy these days…colder weather plus unshaved legs…yup…that calls for a long skirt.

Animal Addiction

02 Oct 2011 Permalink

It’s amazing how a little (or a lot!) animal print added to an outfit can make you feel a bit sassy and glamorous for the day or night.  Usually I stick with just one animal print, but mixing different prints of the same color seemed like so much fun.

What’s your favorite way to wear animal prints?
