Double Cardi with Distressed Denim
This weekend I felt the pain of all you single moms out there! With my husband away and two sick kids to care for, doubling up on comfort with not one, but two cardigans was just what the doctor ordered. (Well…not really but you know… The kids were ordered for antibiotics, steroid medication, and breathing treatments every 4 hours…yeah, asthma and allergies are real fun.)
Last summer I had fun distressing an old jean skirt. This time I used the same technique to slice up a pair of jeans.
With the jeans on, I used chalk to mark where I wanted the distressing to be. Then I used a kitchen knife and added a few cuts. I also used scissors to shorten the length. The final step was to wash and dry the jeans…this is the part that really helps rough up the cut spots.
Make sure to check back in tomorrow for some very exciting news!! (Hint…it has to do with money, lots of money!)

A Cozy Sweater to End the Week
Things have been a whole roller coaster of emotions lately. So to keep it all on a positive note, here are a few things around the web that are keeping me happy:
Mae Badiyan picked the most wearable trends for spring. I think I’ll be giving all of them a try. (Maybe even following this sunglasses diy from A Pair and A Spare!)
Anna at IHOD shared her favorite lip stain, and I totally agree with her! It’s by far my fav way to get color on my lips!

eshakti: Bluebell Dress

Over the weekend we were teased by spring…it was the perfect time to give this dress from eShakti a test run. The dress is from their spring collection. I was instantly drawn to the contrasting blues…such a great color for red heads! Added bonus? I used their customization option to make this little frock just above the knee…a perfect length for my 5’3″ frame.
Good news for you, reader. eShakti is offering you 20% off with the code KNCKEDPFBL. (Valid now through 3/10) Go take a peek at their spring line! And they now carry bridesmaid’s dresses! (I wish my sister had known about this!!)

Bleached Again
These jeans are on their way to becoming a different color. (I’m using bleach to lighten them up. Some time ago I tie dyed them with bleach.) I like how they look right now though…it’s like a subtle printed denim.

Outfit for Work: Oversized Shirt and Pajama Pants
Who doesn’t enjoy a comfy pair for pants for work? My trick for not looking sloppy? Make sure to wear a structured top…a pointy heel helps too!

Saturday, Sunday, and Presidents’ Day

Saturday my sisters and I (and Julia too!) took a run to my favorite jewelry store – The Antique and Resale Shoppe. We went looking for earrings for my one sister’s wedding day. Of course we didn’t find what we were shopping for…I did walk away with a little something, and Julia found some crazy flower hat that she looked too cute in to pass up.
On Sunday I decided to take the kids to a local pizzeria for dinner. Usually we just eat at home, but I wanted to give the whole restaurant experience another try…at least that was one dinner I didn’t have to clean up!
And today rounds up my 3-day weekend! I’m thinking cleaning, cooking, and a possible thrift store run. After seeing all the beautiful pictures from last week’s fashion week, I have some new items that I’m going to be hunting for!

We All Have Our Favorites
I’ve been wearing this sweater at least once a week. As soon as I have it clean, I’m grabbing it from the laundry basket to wear again.
My daughter is also having a “moment” with a little pink outfit of hers. She wants to wear it everyday. And since I’m so worn down after school these days, I have no energy to argue or to try to reason with her. I’m just the sucker stuck doing laundry each night so that the pink outfit gets clean come morning.
I don’t mind having the child who wears the same thing everyday…I just don’t want the one who’s in the same dirty clothes from the day before!

Blazer and a Sweater
I picked up a few “winter” blazers…ones that are slightly big, but fit nicely over sweaters. Sometimes I just feel too casual in a sweater and jeans. But when a blazer gets involved, there’s a whole new level of put-togetheredness going on. Let me tell you friends, these days have been crazy. So if I can feel pulled together with a blazer, I’m taking it.
