Why is it that whenever we come across something memorable from our childhood, we’re instantly transported to a happy place??
Last week I went out with my brother and some friends for his birthday. During the night, we made our way to this place called Headquarters. Headquarters is an arcade bar (or beercade as the youngins tell me) that brings you to the past with its vintage video games and throw-back atmosphere. Needless to say, I loved it! I have a soft spot for the 80s and between rounds of pinball and Mrs. Pacman with my sister, I just couldn’t help but to enjoy myself.
So when I had the opportunity to test out some new goodies from Lip Smackers, I knew I had to take it. Besides for providing me with some nostalgia (which I can’t seem to get enough of these days), I wanted Julia to have a chance to get in on the excitement as well.
Growing up I used to LOVE the Dr. Pepper Lip Smacker. The smell was amazing and it provided the perfect amount of tint to my lips. (This was before I was allowed to wear real lipstick…) Nowadays, Lip Smackers has teamed up with other tasty brands like Skittles and Starburst. You can get the sweet candy smell on your lips without any of the calories! By the way, they still carry the Dr. Pepper flavor.
Julia’s favorite, hands down, were the packages of Disney Lip Smackers. Between princesses and Minnie and Daisy, she kept her lips busy for hours. She’d uncap one, smell it, apply it, invite her brother to do the same, then she’d run over to me so I could guess what flavor she applied by smelling her lips. This repeated over and over and…
Watching her smell and slather the gloss all over her lips not only put a smile on my face, it also brought me back to when I was a girl doing the same exact thing. And now my heart melts as I watch my daughter enjoying her Lip Smackers.
Lip Smacker provided us with lip gloss for review. All opinions are my own.
