Make it Work

April 24, 2012

While I was pregnant, I found this lovely blue pleated skirt.  I knew at the time that post-baby, the thing wouldn’t fit…the waist was just way too big.  I told myself that I’d get some elastic and refashion it.  Yeah.  Right.  I’ve hardly had time to hem skirts, let alone redo any waistband.  Enter, the belt.  A friend to all whose pants (or skirts) are loose and baggy, or a friend to the fashionable…and in this case, it’s a time saver.  Or just a shortcut for being lazy.  Eh…POtato…poTAto.

top – Loft // skirt, belt – thrifted // shoes – Sears // hat, bangles(thrifted/MIL) – DIY (spruced up with a little paint)

I LOVE that skirt! I can’t believe you found it at a thrift store! Funny – I bought a blue pleated skirt while I was pregnant, too, but it was too small and I had to wait my whole pregnancy to wear it after my baby was born. It was the first skirt I wore (4 days after he was born)!

Did the same thing earlier in the week with a thrifted pink pleated skirt, haven’t had the chance to take the waist in and really couldn’t wait any longer to wear it. I’d like to think it’s a Macgyver move. MacLazy? Indeed, not.

I want to learn how to sew so I can make alterations, but in the meantime, I think I’ll use your idea. :) By the way, if your clutch is from Old Navy, then I have it in another color. I had completely forgotten about it, but I love the way it looks with your outfit, so I might have to start using it again!
