Reason #11

October 9, 2011

When I found this romper (new, with tags, from New York & Co.) on my last thrift trip, I instantly grabbed it.  I saw so many cute rompers over the summer while I was pregnant, and I really wanted to try one out…but I wasn’t about to pay full price!  I’m glad that I didn’t.  This is not the most practical outfit for a nursing mama…nor is it the most flattering!  I wore the jean jacket with it to provide some structure, but you should have seen how baggy my butt looked at the end of the day!  I’m all for taking a little fashion risk and for trying something different…but I’m leaving this trend for the preschool crowd.

 Comments…thoughts…stories…I’d love to hear!

My friend you are SO brave. I mistakenly scored a Missoni romper at Target during the launch. The pattern was so beautiful and I thought it was a belted top so I just grabbed it. When I got it home and discovered it was a romper I was a bit horrified. For good reason. Rompers and grown folks don’t really mix well, though you managed to look adorable in it! The jacket over it really helped to toughen it up but a saggy butt by days end and no easy nursing access – two MAJOR downfalls. A for effort!

You look pretty smart in them! Ahem! I wish I could sport rompers, unfortunately I don’t have thighs that I could flaunt rompers in…

Rompers are tricky, fo’ sho’. Definitely not practical for multiple reasons; like needing to pee. But I love the look and the fact that like a dress, it’s one piece (easy). The way you styled the romper makes it feel grown-up and polished. I love the sleeves of your sweater peaking out from the rolled jacket sleeves. Great job, but it’s too bad about the sagging butt!

Oh! I also meant to say that the type of material and detailing can make a difference in how it looks and fits. I have seen some (handwashable) silk ones that are fabulous.

Good point about the material! I think I saw a few celebs in silk ones…and of course they looked great!

That’s one of the best parts about thrifting-it makes it so cheap and easy to try a trend. And if you don’t like it? You didn’t break the bank trying it out!

oooooo…i love me a romper. once, when i was running 3 miles or more a day/5x a week…i wore a skimpy romper for my bff’s bday – a night on the town…i think i looked good, but then again…i was drinking. is it possible to have beer goggles on yourself? haha
i would not be caught dead in one 7 weeks after giving birth.
great find…i think it fits you well!

Who are you kidding?? I bet you looked HOT!

Speaking of running…some 39 week pregnant lady ran the Chicago marathon…needless to say she delivered a few hours after the race! You runners are motivated!
