Farewell Party

02 Aug 2011 Permalink

When I first became a mom, I learned that there are two things that do not mix well together – newborns and jewelry.  Not newborns wearing the jewelry, but the caretaker of the child wearing the jewelry (I didn’t lose you there, did I?)

As much as I LOVE fashion jewelry, it is near impossible to hold a newborn (delicate skin and all) while you have on multilayered necklaces, chandelier earrings, cocktail rings, or arm parties. (What’s an arm party? See here.)  So here’s one last “party” before I spend lots of time snuggling with my new bundle – sans jewelry.

bracelets – thrifted and vintage

Look here to see the arm party of others…another Bloggers Do It Better Challenge.

This is pretty amazing – and I totally get what you mean about jewelry and babies not mixing…especially when they get into that grabbing phase. I’ve had several necklaces get broken that way!

Lovely! So very lovely! Congrats on the little one who is about to turn your world upside down;) From one mama to another, it won’t be to long and you will be able to wear your lovelies again but snuggling is oh so much better anyway.

I love all of the different textures. It never even crossd my mind that wearing costume jewelry with infants could possible be problematic. Good point to keep in mind whenever I do become a mother. Enjoy the time with your little one-‘sans jewelry’!

You’d be surprized…not only can the jewelry scratch their little faces and body, but once they start grabbing things, then you’re really in trouble! I’ve had many items broken…needle nose pliers need to be kept handy!
